Privacy Policy
Your conversations with her are personal. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and what you control. Last updated October 28, 2026.
The short version
- We don't sell your data and we don't show ads.
- Location, camera and face recognition are off until you turn them on, and you can turn them off any time.
- We use a few trusted companies to run her brain, her voice and her photos. They process your data only to provide koohoo.
- Email hey@koohoo.app and we'll delete your data.
Who we are
koohoo ("we", "us") makes the koohoo app and this website. You can reach us at hey@koohoo.app.
This website
koohoo.app has no accounts, no forms, no analytics and no advertising, and we set no cookies. Two things happen when you visit:
- Hosting. The site is hosted by GitHub, which may log technical details such as your IP address and browser to keep the service running and secure.
- Fonts. Our fonts load from Google Fonts, so your browser contacts Google, which receives your IP address.
If you email us, we keep your message and address so we can reply.
The koohoo app
What you share with her
- Messages and voice notes. What you type or say to her. Voice notes are turned into text on our own servers.
- Photos and files you send her, so she can see and talk about them.
- The things you tell her, such as names of friends, family and pets, your plans and your preferences. She keeps short notes about you so she remembers.
- Your setup choices, such as her photo, name and voice.
Optional features (off until you turn them on)
- Location. She can see your approximate area, how far you are from home and real places nearby, to suggest places and check you got home. Your home location is saved on your phone.
- Front camera. When it's on, the app takes one small photo from your front camera each time you send her a message, so she can see you, only while the app is open on your screen. Never in the background.
- Recognizing people and pets. When you name someone in a photo, your phone creates a face "fingerprint" so she can recognize them next time. Matching runs on your phone, and a backup copy is stored with your account so it survives a reinstall.
- Notifications, so she can text you first.
Usage data
We count things like when the app is opened, how many messages are sent, and call length, to fix problems and plan pricing. These counts don't include what you said.
Who helps us run koohoo
These companies process your data only to provide the app, under their own privacy and security terms:
- Anthropic runs her brain: your messages, photos and files go there so she can reply, and her notes about you are stored there. She may also search the web through it.
- ElevenLabs creates her voice from the text of her replies.
- fal creates the photos and videos she sends you, from short descriptions she writes.
- OpenStreetMap helps find places near you when location is on.
- Cloudflare provides the secure connection between the app and our servers.
- Apple, Google and your browser's notification service deliver her messages as notifications.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while you use koohoo. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your chats, notes, photos and face fingerprints within 30 days, apart from anything the law requires us to keep.
Your choices and rights
- Turn location, camera, recognition and notifications on or off at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it: email hey@koohoo.app.
- Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under local law, such as the GDPR in Europe, the CCPA in California or the PDPA in Thailand. We'll honor them.
Age
koohoo is for adults 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a minor is using koohoo, tell us and we'll delete their data.
Where data is processed
We and our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Wherever it's processed, we protect it as this policy describes.
Security
Connections are encrypted, access is limited to what's needed to run the service, and we keep the data we hold to what koohoo needs. No system is perfectly secure, so we'll tell you promptly if something goes wrong that affects you.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app before the change applies to you.
